About Us:

theSPACE is an social enterprise of Uprising East Lothian, a youth based social movement working hard to put youth positively and visibly into community. We have imagined and built theSPACE with passion, determination and solidarity. Get in there!

Skatepark:

Rising like a phoenix from the factory floor is Scotland's newest old skool indoor skatepark. Brought to you direct by the heroic Uprising build crew, designed with a clear vision and created in mind and heart with not a computer in sight! The quality Phantassie mini-ramp is widened and improved and now sits alongside a fantastic street section with multiple lines and most lovely and effective features. Perched cheekily beside the street section is our Pirate Bowl with concrete coping all round. Tons of lines, concrete coping and the love driven through every screw and every cut makes this a park to be reckoned with and adored.

We are planning a park extension for later this year. This will add a new street section, a learners micro-ramp and a vert ramp to the mix.

Rehearsal Rooms:

Open every day from 10am - 10pm. We have two rehearsal rooms at theSPACE. Room 1, the biggest room will also be the live room for our future recording set-up. Both rooms have quality equipment, good acoustic quality and are ventilated and comfortable. If needed we have snare drums, cymbals and single and double bass pedals for hire. Member price applies if a band member has a membership with theSPACE.

Refreshments:

We have juice, snacks and tea and coffee available at all times and on a Saturday and Sunday daytime we bring out the fresh coffee and bacon rolls!

Beginners and Learners Sessions:

These sessions are targeted at participants up to the age of 10 and provide for skateboard's, bmx's, scooter's and roller-blade's/skate's. We have a couple of coaches in the park to help out and it is also an opportunity for parents to have a go too! These are lively and busy sessions with a great atmosphere and in early 2012 we will be offering structured beginners skateboard and bmx lessons as part of these sessions.

Time To Party:

Celebrate your Birthday by ripping up the park on a Saturday or Sunday from 12pm-1pm. Parties include a coach, all equipment hire and 1 hour in the park, exclusively for the use of the party. Give us a shout for details and prices.

(Registration is free)
Membership costs £30 a year. For additional family members the price drops to £20 and £10 respectively.

IMPORTANT INFO: Everybody using the skatepark will have to complete a Consent and Registration Form. This is to be done once and only once. If you are under 16 your parent/guardian has to sign it too.

Lessons
- We offer coached sessions at our beginners session on a Saturday Morning between 10am-12pm. We will have 2 coaches in the park supporting the young learners. Coaching costs an extra £3 on top of the session price.

During the main school holidays we will be open from 10am - 10pm every day. The focused sessions will still be on, as will the Beginners and Learners Sessions. We will also be doing Beginners and Learners Sessions on Monday's and Tuesday's in the holidays from 10am-12pm. All other times will be open sessions unless advertised differently.
